So... I'm just going to call August my summer break. lol But for real, where did that month go?
I'm a little embarrassed by this.... I only read ONE book, and it wasn't even a long one, but it ended up being a great one! βPart of the reason is it was a gorgeous month and I had the top and doors off my Jeep a lot. I do almost all of my "reading" in the car listening to audible, so not being able to hear the radio because of the wind when the top is off doesn't help with that. I know, no excuse, but it was fun! The Miracle Morning by Hal Elrod
I loved this book! So much that I want my #BabeSquad girls to do the 30 day Miracle Morning with me.
The author starts out by talking about a horrible accident he was in and how he lost everything and was able to make a come back and create an insanely successful life for himself, not just financially, but mentally and emotionally, too. The basis of the Miracle Morning is that what you do to start your day affects how you'll feel the rest of the day, so by starting your mornings doing some small things each day, your entire life will improve. He recommends doing these things for an hour each morning (10 minutes each activity), but says you can also get great benefit from only doing them for 6 minutes a day total.
He calls these activities his "Life SAVERS"....
Silence - Spend time each morning to meditate in silence and clear your mind. Affirmations - Repeat positive affirmations to yourself about who you want to become and what success looks like to you. Visualization - Plan your future... What would a typical day look like? Where do you want to live? What are your relationships like? Be as specific as you can! Exercise - Get moving! Even if it's just a couple minutes of push ups, sit ups and jumping jacks. Reading - Do personal development every single day (this should sound very familiar to my team of coaches!) If you're looking for ideas for personal development books to read, check out my blogs to see what I've been reading lately. Scribing - Get your goals, ideas and feelings down on paper. Journal. Then take time to go back and review past journal entries to see how far you've come! These don't need to be done in any order, and they only need a few minutes each. Start small and build your time up as you go. I know your first thought is, "Who has time to do this every morning?" but trust me, if you start your mornings off like this you'll see just how much it helps with you energy and productivity throughout the day! He also talked about food and it's affect on our lives, physically and emotionally. The foods you fuel your body with are so important and the cleaner you eat, the better you're going to feel. And he added that he makes himself a superfoods shake every day that includes maca, chia and cacoa... sounds a little like Shakeology to me! :) If you're looking for more, there are also some great resources and tools to track your Miracle Morning on their website, which you can find HERE.
So what are YOU reading this month? I'd love to hear!
Xoxo βPeace, Love, Glitter & F Bombs,
