Omg where the hell did August just go!?! For real, I'm so sorry I'm so late posting this!! I feel like I blinked and BAM! It's the 18th of the month already. I barely even remember what I read last month! So finally.... here is my July book review! (And guess which book I STILL haven't read! lol)
Pretty Happy by Kate Hudson
I loved this book! It's super empowering and really gives you some great action steps to take (clean eating, nutrition, meditation, etc). I listened to the audible version and it also had a 75 page downloadable pdf that I sent to Office Max to have printed that works as a workbook to help you realize your fullest potential. It basically functions as a drawing board for your physical and emotional health. (I have still yet to do anything with my printable... but I have the best intentions and plan to dive into it "some day".)
How to Talk So Kids Will Listen and Listen So Kids Will Talk by Adele Faber and Elaine Mazlish
I'm going to be honest... I pulled this book up on my phone and saw it was over 8 hours and thought "Oh hell no!" I looked for another book, but was drawn back to this... and OMG am I ever glad I stuck with it!!! I absolutely LOVED it!! As a new stepmom, I'm looking for any help I can get. What I didn't expect was to walk away with tools that I was not only able to use with my stepkids right away, but that would also help my relationships with adults, specifically my significant other, as well. The first chapter was exactly what I needed him to hear to understand where I was coming from.
This book is all about communication... the words we choose and how they are perceived. It's about LISTENING and not jumping to give advice or tell people how they feel. And like I said, I was able to put the things I learned from this book into action right away and see amazing results. Since I listened to this book, I've started it again and am about half way through my 2nd time already. I truly think this is a book I'll listen to or read about 10 times over the next year or so. I got that much out of it. I've also screen shotted a couple places in the book that I want to go back and take notes on when I'm not driving, so be on the look out for future blogs based on those!
So what's up in August? Like I mentioned, I started listening to How to Talk So Kids Will Listen and Listen So Kids Will Talk again, and this morning I started The Miracle Morning, which has been recommended to me a hundred times before and I'm finally listening to it now. And.... I might finally read The Four Agreements! lol
I'd love to hear what you're reading now! Be sure to comment below or shoot me a message on facebook!
