🍓🍌🍇🍎🥑🥕🥒🍅🍠🍆🥗 Are NOT the same as 🍔🍕🌮🍟🍝🍭🍦🍰🍩🍪🍫 Lately my news feed has been filled with posts about people cutting carbs and it makes my anxiety go on high for a couple reasons.... 1️⃣ Not all carbs are created equal. Somewhere, we as a society got so hung up on counting carbs that we are now more concerned with the # on the back of a box than the actual source. 50g of carbs from whole, healthy foods, like fruits and vegetables, are not the same as 50g of carbs from pizza, donuts, breads or other processed foods. 2️⃣ Just because something doesn't have carbs, doesn't automatically mean it's healthy. So many people want to find that one loop hole, that thing that tells them they can eat however they want and still lose weight. And I see this happen even more than usual when people cut carbs (and especially now that eating high fat is trending.) Bacon, cheese, butter, ranch dressing... on everything!! Again, always look for high quality ingredients. 3️⃣ Sick of losing and gaining the same weight over and over and over and over and over again? The trick to getting off the diet rollercoaster is to create BALANCE so it becomes a LIFESTYLE change and not another quick fix that turns into a yoyo diet. Ask yourself: "Could I see myself eating like this still after one year?" If the answer is NO, then it's time to refocus and find something sustainable. Trust me, I get it. I've done every diet out there. I know what it feels like to want results NOW!! I had no patience when it came to results. I wanted them overnight. I didn't want to do it slow and steady and I thought doing a quick fix was going to get me fast results, *and then* I could do it healthy once I was already there. 👉🏻 But it never happens like that. The reality is I'd lose weight, then gain all of it, and usually more, back. I'd feel like shit for letting myself get right back to where I started, so I'd panic trying to lose the weight fast again, and it created this vicious cycle of weight loss, weight gain, and being depressed and feeling horrible about myself. Sometimes I wouldn't even lose any weight. I'd be so fixated on what I could and couldn't eat and feel so restricted, I'd follow it for a couple days and then totally binge out and in less than a week be worse off than I was before. ✨ You may think you are, but you're not lacking willpower or motivation (you want this!!) What's happening is you're giving yourself unrealistic expectations, a timeframe that is way too short, you're focusing on right now vs long term and letting yourself chase the next shiny object that is promising to give you the results you want with less work than the next option. 🙋🏼 If you can give me some PATIENCE and focus on long term growth and change, I can help you get there without driving yourself (or your family!) crazy along the way! I promise it doesn't have to be as hard as you're making it. Sick and tired of being confused with what to eat?
