About 10 years ago the Insanity workout was all the rage. It felt like everyone was doing it and seeing amazing results. 60 days to a completely transformed and shredded body, using nothing but your body weight? Sign me up!
I took my before pics, pulled out the calendar, and went straight to facebook and told EVERYONE. Put your goals out there and you’re more likely to stick to them, right? Within a week I knew I hated every second of every workout, and not long after that I found myself secretly hopping I somehow got injured so I had an excuse to stop. Yes, you read that right.

Take it from someone who was born in Canada and spent most of their life in Buffalo, NY…
Summers are wayyyyy too short to be stuck inside working out all day! Let me break it down for you… Lets say you workout at a gym 30 min drive + 1 hr workout x 6 days/wk = 9 hours each week It’s a little better when you do your workouts at home 1 hour workout x 6 days/wk = 6 hours per week But what if you can still get great results, at home, doing 30 min workouts, and only 4 days a week? ☁️ COMFORT ZONES ☁️
We’ve got them, and we love them, but they can give us a false sense of security. They may feel “safe”, but they also don’t allow for growth. So while they’re keeping you from having to do the scary things in life, they also keep you from experiencing so much of what life has to offer. What’s keeping you from the magic that’s waiting on the other side of your comfort zone? You don’t have to give up your social life when you have fitness and nutrition goals! I mean, abs are great, but not if they keep you from actually living life!
Instead of viewing things as “on” or “off”, what about just being “better”? I try to keep my restaurant orders simple… tons of veggies and a side of protein. One of my go to's is a salad w/salmon, but another fav is a Caesar salad w/shrimp! Tis the season for seasonal depression, even here in sunny Florida! Between it getting darker earlier, falling temps, work stress, pandemic stress, and making it through the holidays and January, it’s no wonder you might be in a funk this time of year.
Here are some things you can do to take care of yourself and make it though these final few weeks of winter! Happy New Year!!
Whether you've been showing up in our private facebook community all year, or you're just getting started, I want to let you know what kind of support is available to help you reach your goals this year! If you've seen any of my Instagram posts lately, I've been sharing some of my simplest and quickest meal ideas that you can throw together in just a couple minutes, or #5MinuteMealPrep as I like to call it!
This has been especially helpful while I'm spending a couple weeks in Costa Rica. I've been cooking breakfast and some lunches at home and keeping them super simple, and then eating out for dinner. This is what a typical day's meals have been like: Wow! What a couple weeks it's been.
How are you holding up? If you're like most people, I'm guessing you're working from home, trying to home school your kids, wondering where your next toilet paper is going to come from, social distancing, and somehow trying to keep your sanity. Two seconds on facebook or watching the news can send you down a spiral of panic and fear. You've received a bazillion emails from all your favorite businesses telling you what they're doing to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. And you just want some sense of normalcy back in your life. Instead of reiterating everything that you've already seen, today I just want to share some tips to stay healthy, happy, and as sane as possible during these trying times.
If you've ever scrolled through Instagram past a post of a week's worth of perfectly laid out and planned healthy food, each meal neatly placed in it's own container, and it's given you instant anxiety..... don't worry, I've been there!! In fact, I've been there as recently as just a couple weeks ago. So I feel ya!
The past two weeks I've made some changes to how I view (and tackle!) meal prep, and I can honestly say that it no longer freaks the hell out of me. So I wanted to share them with you while they'e still fresh! |
